The two most common justifications for Zionism debunked

By: Moe Diab

I constantly hear two desperate justifications in attempt to excuse the brutality and immorality of Zionism, which continues today. Which are the Jewish suffering as justification claim and the Jewish inheritance claim. Allow me to state the facts, thereby giving you the opportunity to think logically in forming your own thoughts and opinions.

The first of the two claims is the Jewish suffering as justification claim. There are numerous reasons why this claim is absurd and illogical. The obvious reason is that one population [Palestinians] should not have to suffer ethnic cleansing, genocide and displacement, in essence, pay the price for another population’s [Jews] suffering. Especially since Palestine offered Jews religious asylum and safe haven refuge during harsh times of persecution. Even more outrageous, the Palestinians, who have felt the colossal power of this vengeance, were NOT the historical oppressors of the Jews. The Palestinians did NOT isolate the Jews into ghettos and force them to wear yellow stars. They did NOT plan the Holocaust. But they had only one fault, which is that they were vulnerable and defenseless in the face of actual military force, so they were the perfect victims for an abstract revenge. The inability of the Palestinians to protect themselves from aggressing forces made it easy to have the Palestinians pay the price for 2,000 years of Jewish persecution.

The second of the two claims is the Jewish inheritance claim to the land of Palestine. This is such a ridiculous claim. I am constantly shocked each and every time someone presents this to me. Hundreds of empires throughout history have conquered and fallen to overtaking powers. To say that all Jews have the right of return to a land their ancestors may, or may not, have lived in thousands of years ago, which was already inhabited for thousands of years by an indigenous population and thriving culture is outrageous enough. But for them to engage in ethnic cleansing and genocide to establish a Jewish state on top of an already existing Palestine is absolutely among the worst crimes against humanity.

Now, all reality and humanity aside, I will entertain the claim from the Zionist angle. The aim of Zionism is the restoration of a Jewish sovereignty to its status 2,000 years ago. Zionism does not advocate an overhauling of the total world situation in the same way; it does not advocate the restoration of the Roman Empire. In addition, Palestinians have claimed descent from the ancient inhabitants of Palestine from over 3,000 years ago. This has been supported by archeological evidence, time and time again. Either way, biblical and archeological claims are absolutely unjustifiable to what was done to the indigenous Palestinians and what continues to happen today.

Remember, although this conflict may appear to be religiously or historically driven, at the end of the day we are civilized human beings, living in the 21st century, which have already witnessed racially driven genocides and the consequences of allowing an ethnic cleansing campaign to continue uninterrupted. How can we, as humans, allow the indigenous Palestinian population to be ethnically cleansed even further, when they have been abused, murdered, displaced, humiliated, illegally arrested and held without charges, for over 65 years now?

Shame on us for having the intelligence to send a person to the moon, but not having the common sense and compassion to prevent another immoral racially-driven ethnic cleansing and genocide of an illegally occupied land and people. We must remember and never forget that humanity and human rights must come before racial, religious, historical, national and political prejudices.

Learn the truth and the facts. Form your own opinions. Stand up for what you believe in. Be the voice of the voiceless. Be human.

A truly beautiful and meaningful documentary. When art and dance are used for self expression to preserve culture, a new hope is provided for Palestinian youth in Palestine.

Noor Tagouri Interview

Throughout my multifaceted journey, which has led me to where I am today, I have met some very influential, interesting and inspiring people. From public figures, such as American political scientist, activist, professor and author Norman Finkelstein to A-list Grammy awarded celebrities such as Taylor Swift. I have collected much insight through my encounters, conversations and interviews with these unique and talented people. However, over the years, I have become very particular about who I select to interview and publicize to my eager followers. I only interview carefully selected individuals, which have truly inspired me with their vision and captivated me by their astounding journey.

I first learned of Noor Tagouri by a friend that persistently insisted I watch an “inspirational” YouTube video, posted by Ms. Tagouri, last December. I watched the video and instantly became captivated by her charismatic and passionate presentation. Noor is a 19-year-old college junior studying broadcast journalism and international development conflict management at the University of Maryland. She aspires to be a news anchor or talk show host. Noor’s barrier-breaking and infectious message drew my interest stronger to learn more about her aspirations and progress thus far in becoming the first Muslim hijabi anchorwoman or talk show host in America.

I had the pleasure to interview Ms. Tagouri via Skype, given that our geographic locations place us at polar opposite ends of the United States. I was pleasantly surprised by Noor’s professionalism and confidence in her responses. Her mature outlook on family, friends and ethics, which many middle-age adults still lack, further impressed me. I learned that there is much more to her story than what has been recently circulating in social media and published in articles. To say that Noor wants to be the first Muslim hijabi news anchor in America is merely scratching the surface.

Noor Tagouri first became interested in talk shows during her early elementary years in which she would rush home from school, excited to watch another airing of the Oprah Winfrey show with her mother, while she prepared dinner. Noor described how Oprah intrigued her, due to her style of asking questions to provoke emotional responses and involvement from her audience.

“I was intrigued by how she would ask discovery questions to get her guests increasingly more involved, while engaging the audience, by allowing them to participate in the discussions. I was always so impressed by how she would use specific questions to extract emotions from her audience.”

Noor’s interest grew throughout the years. At the age of 16-years-old, she had the opportunity to meet Ted Koppel at the red ribbon cutting event for the opening of a new wing at a local hospital. Regardless of the massive press outcome, Koppel took special interest in Noor’s impressive objective questions and he offered her invaluable advice. Clearly, Ms. Tagouri took the journalism legend’s advice to heart.

Much has been covered and publicized about Noor’s indomitable will in achieving her goal of becoming the first Muslim hijabi news anchor in the United States, but little has been said about the sequence of events that led to her defining statement. I found it interesting that Ms. Tagouri made the personal decision to wear the hijab, only four years ago. Therefore, it is apparent that her goal was the merging of two significant devotions. Her growing childhood interest in broadcast journalism, which led to her decision to pursue a career as a news anchor or talk show host, was met with her personal devotion to Islam and her decision to wear the hijab. Furthermore, the merging of these two devotions naturally progressed into her highly publicized, powerful statement, in becoming the first Muslim hijabi anchorwomen in America.

Ms. Tagouri’s dream is continuing to gain public support. Indeed this is partially due to her uplifting presentation, but I feel much is due to her boundary-breaking goal and her courage in pursuing it. A deeper question must be addressed prior to understanding the power and ambition behind Noor’s goal. Why has there never been a Muslim hijabi anchorwoman or talk show host in America and what has been preventing it? History has taught us that racial discrimination and oppression has fueled this pattern throughout American history. American congress and mass media corporations have strategically used discriminatory hate campaigns against a specified racial, ethnic or religious group to gain public support to invade and occupy sovereign nations for ulterior motives.

The creation and media proliferated Islamophobia trend started long before 9-11, early into the 1900’s. Muslims have continuously been slandered in American movies and media. Muslim men in the past have been and continue to be portrayed as uncivilized, violent in nature, misogynistic, oppressive towards women and overall an enemy to freedom and democracy. Muslim women have been and continue to be depicted as oppressed, submissive to male figures, lacking independence and freedom of choice. These stereotypes have not been corrected because they serve as a strategic divide between the Western and Eastern cultures, which is key in maintaining public support to wage false-flag operations leading to ulterior motive fueled wars. Thus, the time has come to change all of this for the better. A leader has emerged that may influence and finally correct the slanderous misrepresentation of Muslims, specifically, Muslim women, in the public eye.

The campaign #LetNoorShine is not only about helping Noor reach her goal, but also to inspire others to pursue their personal goals. Furthermore, it is apparent that Noor is inspiring and supporting others to obtain their goals. Therefore, Ms. Tagouri’s commitment has led to her action in making her vision public to the world and to exemplify that taking action brings you closer to your dream. Her perseverance and pro-activeness is precisely responsible for her growing public support. The public is inspired not only by ambitious goals, but by being actively engaged in reaching those goals. I believe, Harriet Tubman said it best, “Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world,” Noor provides true meaning to this message.

This is human life, not my opinion.
By: Moe Diab

All I need is for you to take a minute and truly listen to me.
This isn’t my opinion about my favorite cast member on MTV.
It’s the voice of the voiceless that desperately cry out to be heard.
I’m sorry, but I’m not going to keep my thoughts to myself,
while flashes of ashes defy gravity, destroying love, peace and humanity.
It’s not only a Palestinian struggle that defies your comfort,
crimes against humanity cause millions to cry, bleed and suffer.
I’m sorry if you find reality TV more entertaining and easier to watch,
ignorance buys your silence and innocent children pay the cost.

It’s not that I’m angry or confused, prideful or lost, it’s the fact that knowing the truth,
arms me with a throbbing conscience of a modern Palestinian Holocaust.
Biased and intentionally misdirecting news broadcasts are all you trust,
reporting on celebrity scandals, while entire villages are uprooted, displaced and crushed.
Fabricated news is spun and death is exploited for profit.
Hollywood sponsored hate campaigns become new gossip.
Intended to breed enough homegrown support to invade sovereign nations.
Natural resources stolen, political power gained and destroyed foreign relations.
A nation brainwashed to hate, fear and wish death upon millions they know little about.
In the name freedom and democracy?
On the contrary, look up terrorism and tell me what defines hypocrisy.
Gaza was bombed on the worldwide stage, while choked in an airtight cage.
And guess what?
Israel still got paid.

What about the suffering of millions in the West Bank, Gaza, and all over Palestine?
The news doesn’t play that footage, so not a single one of you do so much as bat an eye.
What if I told you about generations of families being uprooted, displaced,
an ethnic cleansing that scars the earth with pillage and rape?
Entire families torn apart, fathers turn to sons,
exchange one last look, are lined up, executed and depart.
You think this is fiction scary?
Look up ethnic cleansing in the dictionary!
A rich historic culture hijacked, given a bad name.
Names of ancient villages gone, erased.
You read these words with real gentle stillness,
while the post-traumatic stress causes severe mental illness.
But you cannot destroy or erase the pride and dignity manifested in a child’s brain,
due to generations of oppression, while the world condemns Israel to shame.

When will you be as brave as a Palestinian child, fighting for his existence,
against military occupation with treatment so vile?
Will you stand up against oppression, demand justice and ask questions?
Does it really take someone to give you a knowledge overdose?
Images of the deceased alone could suffocate, strangle, and leave you looking morose.
Maybe, watching a ten second clip of a child ruthlessly targeted and shot,
Maybe, images of a child’s beautiful face bursting, deformed and lost,
Maybe, watching a father hold his sons lifeless body close to his chest,
screaming GOD why? Take my life instead!
Maybe, seeing the blood splatter cover them both will make you listen.
This blood stains the land, horrific murder scenes burn into the soul,
forever imprinted is the memory of a father watching his son’s life go.

Maybe a few seconds of your time could’ve changed the outcome for that innocent child,
instead of another war crime statistic being filed.
Maybe be human for a moment, refuse to comply with what you see,
open your heart to feel their pain, agony, injustice, their lives left in debris.
Maybe stepping aside from corporate mass media lies and reality trash TV,
will allow your mind to be open, finally conscious and truly free.
Maybe taking pride in uniting, resisting and defending the voiceless,
will give hope to something you once thought was pointless.

I will not be told to keep my opinions inside, there is no controversy or debate in saving
the lives of innocent oppressed children mercilessly murdered, brutalized!
Maybe there is a reason you don’t want to hear this from me.
Maybe it’s your guilt being masked by artificial news stories.
Deep down you know damn well that you’re no longer confused,
you NOW know about the brutal savagery and human rights abuse.
I’m actually not sorry my raw honesty made you  feel uncomfortable,
its proof you’re human and emotionally responsible.
There’s a deep human reason you feel that groggy emotion,
it’s your sleeping conscience, screaming, waiting to be awoken!
